I'm in! #KindnessMatters

PTA Members and Presidents

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, supported by our national government across the country. Fairfield PTA Council is launching its first unified, viral media initiative to support Kindness Matters throughout this school year along with our Chamber of Commerce. In concert, we will be launching a series of messages to promote socially in our schools and neighborhoods.

On Monday, 10/15 thru the end of the month, the Kindness Committee is requesting all school PTA platforms: websites, Facebook pages, and Tweets to include any or all of 3 messages with a hyperlink to IM IN!

We are also asking all PTA Members, families and students to post the image as a personal profile on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, LinkedIn pages and any other social media platform you’d like to share this message.

Please be sure to CLICK  IM IN!  (https://www.kindnessevolution.org/im-in/)  to show your support and be counted as a school or family who stands behind this important message.

We’re tracking, in real-time, all the individuals, organizations and companies that are standing for the eradication of bullying.  We are stronger together and through collaboration will raise awareness in Fairfield and beyond and have greater social impact. Please share this message and encourage friends and colleagues near and far to join in solidarity by clicking IM IN

If you don’t already have a Kindness Committee in place at your school, now is the time! I’m happy to come to your PTA meeting or meet with you, your Principal, and your HSFC Rep to
get started.

Here are some great ideas and resources to get going. It’s our mission to spread #KindnessMatters throughout Fairfield all year long.

Please join us!

PTAC Community Letter to Retailers

PTAC Community Letter to Retailers

Letter to Retailers

Posted on September 21, 2018 | Fairfield PTAC

PTA Members,

On September 21, 2018  I handed three local retailers this letter on behalf of the Fairfield PTA Council insisting that they stop illegally selling JUUL/vaping/eCigarettes to underage minors. I hope that other groups in town will follow us at PTAC. Many thanks to Fairfield Cares for keeping us all informed and to the FDA for catching them red handed.

September 21, 2018

Dear Retailer:

We, the Fairfield PTA Coucil (PTAC) insist that you stop selling JUUL and other vaping/e-cigarette products to children under the legal purchasing age of 18 years old. Recently the FDA released a list of 1,300 retailers nationwide who were caught selling these products to underage minors. Your business’ name is on that list.

PTAC represents 17 school PTAs in the town of Fairfield, with 10,000 children and families. Fairfield’s schools have done much to combat the epidemic of underage JUUL usage through changes to its physical plant, educational programming and administrative action. We applaud those efforts and want to see them succeed.

That some retailers in our community would violate not only the law by selling to underage minors but also the spirit of keeping these products confined to the hands of adults is unacceptable to us.

We intend to enlist the help of our families in town to make sure that JUUL and other vaping and e-cigarette products are not distributed to our children and, where they are, we have asked to be alerted to it so that we can alert the parents of our town’s 10,000 school children.

We ask that you do your part to educate your workforce. We insist that you do your part by not selling to anyone under the legal purchasing age.
